A few weeks ago, I came across this familiar teaching: “…I have made you a watchman for the people…so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me” (Ezekiel 33:7 NIV). I have not been able to escape the thought that an application of this verse includes pastors.
God is calling you to speak the word to your people, warning them about an approaching danger. The danger we face right now is that Kamala Harris, an ardent and proud advocate for abortion, is running for President of the United States. (To see some of my reasons for saying that, please see here.) She has made it clear time and again that she does not value life, a principle central to the teaching of our faith.
As you consider what you can and should do for your congregations, I humbly suggest that you at least:
- Encourage them to get educated about the positions that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have taken on the issue of life and vote for the candidate that most closely aligns with God’s Word.
- Encourage them to VOTE—because every vote matters, especially this year! (See more on Why We Vote.)
- Remind them that they can get a personalized ballot here.
- Make copies of “Right to Life of Michigan News” available in your church. (See this pdf copy of the 2024 Fall issue.)
God makes it clear to Ezekiel that if he “blows the trumpet to warn the people” and the people choose not to listen, then they are responsible for not listening. If we remain silent in the face of coming danger, then the responsibility for not sounding the alarm rests with each of us.
Please: Sound the Alarm!
