In March of 2025, President Trump blocked Title X federal family planning grants from going to abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood. Those funds were reportedly reinstated in December. This initial block of funds was related to a study the Trump Administration was conducting related to the use of federal dollars to support DEI efforts. During the time that Title X funds were withheld, many Planned Parenthood locations closed their doors, including four locations in Michigan. While President Trump continues to fight in court for bigger Medicaid cuts to Planned Parenthood that were included in his “One Big Beautiful Bill” last summer, the re-institution of Title X funds will provide Planned Parenthood with tens of millions of dollars to continue their abortion-first response to pregnancy.
